Each Adult class has a unique focus and gifts. Please read about the classes and visit any that interest you! Visitors and new members are always welcome!
Contemporary Expressions (Rm 111)
This class offers a drop-in format with no preparation required. Current events, social justice, a book, Methodist worship, videos -- this class can turn any topic in to a lively discussion! No subject is out of bounds, but at the same time, all points of view are considered and respected. A great class to try out Sunday school or to return week after week. While lively and fun, CE also features great theology and mission projects. Best of all it's the only class with a Christmas barbecue in July. Drop in anytime! Contact: Marc Segre.
Homebuilders (Rm 101)
This class of couples, primarily with teenage/college-aged children, reads and discusses relationship and spiritual-life books. It offers lively and thoughtful discussions while mixing in opportunities to socialize outside of the class environment too. We are currently evaluating a short-term relationship study for the summer before we start the Longing to Belong series in the fall. Please stop by and visit this class soon. Contact: Stacy Schrader.
Journey Through the Bible (Rm 117)
Join this group of men and women of all ages as they embark on a slow, thoughtful journey together through the Bible. The group is casual and enjoys diverse discussion of biblical text as it applies to today's life. This summer we will study James, Hebrews and Paul's early letters. Contact : John Pare.
Living Waters (Room 119)
This class is open to all adults and currently includes several couples with young children. We enjoy fellowship and short-term Bible studies - exploring scripture and how we can apply it to our daily lives. Our lessons are independent from week to week so this is a great class for those who may also want to be involved in Children's or Youth Sunday School or can't attend every week. Contact: Kelly Hodges.
Men’s Bible Study (Rm 114)
This group of men of all ages has fun while studying the Bible using the quarterly Adult Bible Study materials. These men also coordinate the semi-annual barbeque and other fellowship events for men. Contact: Kevin Manweiler.
Woman to Woman (Rm 115)
The Woman-to-Woman class offers Bible study, fellowship, support, and sharing to women of all ages and stages. Contact: Vicky St. Clair.
Lost and Found (Room 103)
The new Lost and Found class is for adults of all ages who are not members of an existing class. It currently is finishing up Will Willomon's "Why I Am a United Methodist" and upon completeion will be starting a Bible study. The class is always fun and informative. Contact: Mike Wenhart.

Each year Soapstone offers DISCIPLE Bible Study courses. Over a 2-3 year period all of the DISCIPLE classes are available. In academic year 2009-10, Soapstone is offering Disciple IV.
A 34-week study that moves through the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. DISCIPLE I participants will have the opportunity to learn and grown in faith and in their understanding of the Bible and to grow in Christian community and fellowship.
DISCIPLE II
Into the Word Into the World
A 32-week study of Genesis-Exodus and Luke-Acts prepared for graduates of DISCIPLE I: Becoming DISCIPLES Through Bible Study. This study emphasizes the rhythm of coming to God and going for God, of being in the Word and in the world individually and corporately.
DISCIPLE III
Remember Who You Are
A 32-week study of The Old Testament Prophets and The Letters of Paul available to graduates of DISCIPLE I: Becoming DISCIPLES Through Bible Study. This study focuses on the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. DISCIPLE III looks at how we are called to live out our Christian identity in the world, through the words of the Old Testament prophets and Paul. (It is not necessary to have taken Disciple II first.)
Disciple IV
Under the Tree of Life
A 32-week study of The Writings, John and Revelation available to graduates of DISCIPLE I: Becoming DISCIPLES Through Bible Study. The word under in the title is meant to convey a welcoming invitation to shelter, security, and rest in God's love. Come and rest in the words of John, The Writings, and Revelation while we study the mystery and wonder these books have to offer.

Bikers, swimmers, runners, walkers, and tri-athletes have joined together to raise money for missions in the Race of Grace in Raleigh, the CROP WALK (Sunday, October 12, 2008), and the Mission Man Triathlon in Burlington. Members have also joined together and coordinated other sports events throughout the year. Contact Kevin Manweiler for more information.
Membership Care
Soapstone’s mission is to joyfully worship and honor Christ through Help, Healing, and Hospitality. One of the ways that we do this is through neighborhood membership care groups. Groups provide meals for one another in times of need and may gather periodically for fellowship. For more information about Membership Care or to find out about the neighborhood group in your area, contact Joyce Rodham through the church office, 846-2212.
